VBox Connection

I'm trying to wire a second hand VBox into my Sigmax and was hoping someone may be able to advise. The power cable for the device has a socket connector with 2 prongs on it. Under my dash, there is a compatible socket connector, but this one has 3 prongs on it (assuming +ve, -ve and earth?). Plugging it in and turning the ignition didn't work, so I've tried to diagnose with a multimeter.

Testing across the battery, I get just over 12V, so all good. If however I put one prong at the dash socket end (the one I'm trying to connect the device to), and one prong on the car battery earth terminal, I only get 0.8V reading which is clearly not enough to run the VBox.

A different VBox has been connected into this car once before, as one was fitted when I had some tuition last year, but I don't know exactly how it was done.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
